WASHINGTON, D.C. – In honor of Women’s History Month, the Congressional Asian Pacific American Staff Association (CAPASA), Congressional Black Associates (CBA), Congressional Hispanic Staff Association (CHSA), and Senate Black Legislative Staff Caucus (SBLSC) proudly highlight women of color working on Capitol Hill.
“Similar to last year, the Tri-Caucus Staff Associations are once again sharing a brief analysis of women of color in senior staff positions on Capitol Hill. Although we are proud that a number of new women of color were hired into senior positions in the diverse 116th Congress, we acknowledge there is still much work to be done.
“This March, the Tri-Caucus Staff Associations will continue to spotlight women of color staffers. Features can be found here and will be shared through organization newsletters, and social media accounts.
“Yesterday, the Tri-Caucus Staff Associations hosted a reception to honor women of color chiefs of staff, deputy chiefs of staff, legislative directors, communications directors, and staff directors. These strong women represent our communities and have paved the way for future women to serve in senior positions on the Hill. We are proud of their accomplishments and grateful for their voices in pushing for policies for the American people.
“Together, our staff associations will continue to push for increased diversity on Capitol Hill in the 116th Congress. We are committed to working with these women, along with outside stakeholders, to increase the number of senior women of color and to ensure that congressional staff composition is reflective of the communities that Members of Congress represent.”
