WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Tri-Caucus Staff Associations released the following joint statement:
“We are pleased that the Committee on House Administration has released its interim guidelines for the House Paid Internship Program. Now that the appropriated funds are available to House Member offices, as they have been to Senate offices since the fall of 2018, we are eager to see these programs benefit individuals from diverse communities who have historically been unable to afford the opportunity to serve on Capitol Hill. Furthermore, we urge each Congressional office to disburse the entirety of these funds by September 30th, 2019, as appropriated.
“The House Administration guidelines are subject to change at the end of the calendar year. We hope that the Committee will solicit and incorporate feedback regarding restrictions within the current guidelines, such as pay being for D.C. interns only, into the final document. We thank the Committee for its efforts, offer ourselves as resources as offices establish their paid intern programs, and welcome the opportunity to collaborate on the final guidance.”
