Washington, D.C. - The Congressional Hispanic Staff Association (CHSA) today issued the following statement regarding the passing of Albert Jacquez:
“CHSA is mourning the loss of Albert Jacquez, who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Sunday, August 18, 2019. Mr. Jacquez was serving as the Senior Director of Legislative and Political Affairs for UnidosUS and the Executive Director of the UnidosUS Action Fund. Mr. Jacquez had worked in public service and advocacy throughout his career.
Prior to his work for UnidosUS, Mr. Jacquez had served in the House for 14 years and called by some as the “436th Member of Congress,” for his work as a longtime adviser to Rep. Esteban Torres. He served as the Staff Director for the House Banking Subcommittee on Consumer Affairs under Chairman Torres alongside Reps. Chuck Schumer, Bernie Sanders, and Barney Frank. He was involved early on with CHSA as one of a handful of Latino Chiefs of Staff. Mr. Jacquez spent his life serving our community and beyond. His passing is a tremendous loss to our community.”
