CHSA's Statement Honoring Miguel Franco

Washington, D.C. - Today the Congressional Hispanic Staff Association released the following statement in honor of CHSA Advisory Board Member Miguel Franco’s recognition at CHCI’s Chiefs of Staff Award Ceremony:
“The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute is honoring Miguel Franco for his contributions to advocating for greater diversity in the halls of Congress while fostering opportunities for young leaders. Miguel has contributed immensely to the greater Capitol Hill community as an active senior staffer and member of CHSA. CHSA is honored to have Miguel as a member of our inaugural Advisory Committee, where he provides guidance for the CHSA’s mission and growth.
Miguel Franco serves as Chief of Staff for Congressman Tony Cárdenas, representing California’s 29th District. Miguel has worked for the Congressman for twelve years in various capacities during his time in Congress and on the Los Angeles City Council. As Congressman Cárdenas’ Chief of Staff, he manages the Washington, D.C. and San Fernando Valley offices and oversees policy matters regarding labor, LGBTQ rights, and Native American tribal matters. While working for the Los Angeles City Council, Miguel oversaw issues related to transportation and economic development, as well as the Port of Los Angeles and Los Angeles World Airports.
Miguel was born and raised in Southern California. He graduated from the University of Southern California (USC) with a B.A. in Political Science. He is married to Robert Perez and resides in Prince George’s County, Maryland with their three children. In his free time, he enjoys gardening, tennis, and playing softball.”
