Statement from the CHSA Board of Directors on César Chávez and Dolores Huerta.
WASHINGTON, D.C. - “The allegations detailed in recent reporting about César Chávez are deeply disturbing and heartbreaking. They demand moral clarity. Abuse of women and minors is indefensible—no legacy or accomplishment justifies it. We condemn this conduct unequivocally.
As we observe Women’s History Month, we are reminded that honoring women means protecting their safety and dignity. We stand with the survivors who came forward—many after decades of silence—and recognize their courage. We are especially moved by Dolores Huerta, whose bravery reminds us that integrity must always outweigh legacy and that no one is above accountability.
One person’s actions cannot erase the work of the thousands who built this movement. That legacy belongs to them. Confronting hard truths is not weakness—it is strength. We move forward with justice, compassion, and integrity.
To every survivor in our CHSA Community and beyond: we believe you, and we stand with you."
