Statement from the Congressional Hispanic Staff Association for Black History Month

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Congressional Hispanic Staff Association (CHSA) released the following statement to mark the start of Black History Month:

"Black History Month is an opportunity to reflect on the powerful contributions Black Americans have made to the United States. Their commitment to the American experiment has brought us closer to the more perfect union we all strive to build through our work in Congress.

"A vital part of the Latino story is the vibrant overlap of our communities. Afro-Latinos bring unique perspectives to the Hispanic experience and, increasingly, to the leadership of the U.S. House and Senate.

"In a time of significant national challenges, our shared commitment to one another remains a beacon of hope. The path forward requires collaboration and mutual respect, and we are confident that our members will meet this moment with purpose.

"Throughout the month, CHSA will proudly spotlight the achievements of Afro-Latino members and staff. We invite all members to join our roundtable conversations as we celebrate the diverse voices that strengthen our association and our country."
